This charming, intimate, neighbourhood eaterie with a superb Italian menu. The decor has Edwardian charms, with wonderfully deep carpets, panelled walls and ceilings, and ornate chandeliers. But the menu is confident and focussed Italian cooking, with many ingredients sourced from Italy. The seasonally-changing menu may include dishes like starter of mussel and cannellini bean soup topped with puff pastry, main course of duck breast filled with chestnut puree with timbale of potato and pears in red wine, and pudding of vanilla pannacotta with wild berry wafer. Very good wines.

Don't be surprised if Allegro con Brio becomes your guests' favourite restaurant after you've introduced them to it. The small size makes it an excellent choice for grown up birthdays, anniversaries, and corporate dining, or hire of the entire venue would make a lovely choice for small celebrations or launches, seating up to 32. Dishes from the sophisticated Italian menu include starters like Jerusalem artichokes, mangetout and parmesan cheese salad in nest of marinated red onions, main course of monkfish fillet in aromatic bread crust with beetroot puree and tapenade sauce, and pudding of warm orange tart with vanilla ice cream. There are many other choices of meeting and private dining rooms at the Jolly Hotel St Ermins with traditional style, excellent food, and modern accoutrements.

A credit card is required to secure a reservation for groups of 6 persons or more, if there is availability - this is simply to secure your booking, absolutely no money will be charged to the card except in the case of late cancellations. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £10 per person
