If you don't believe in fairytales, perhaps a visit to The White Swan will change your mind. Tom and Ed Martin, the brothers who run the Swan's popular sister pub, The Well, have applied their magic to transform the former Mucky Duck into a charismatic gastropub. The groundfloor houses a beautifully restored pub packed with local bankers, lawyers and advertising execs, above which is a mezzanine area (first choice of many an office party). The first floor meanwhile is an oak-floored, mirrored ceiling restaurant serving tasty British food along the likes of steak and kidney suet pudding, and blood orange marmalade sponge pudding with custard. The wine menu lists an impressive 150 bottles from around the world. If you're up for a change from London Pride and Greene King IPA, try one of the two monthly-changing guest ales.

The Pub Mezzanine area can be reserved for drinks and canapé parties for up to 20 people. On the weekend the entire venue can be hired exclusively for private dining or for private parties until 2am. There are decks, so you can bring your own DJ. The stylish Dining Room can be hired exclusively for groups of up to 40 people, including breakfast meetings (two courses = £20). Limited business facilities are available.
