About

When you have a restaurant that has performing space, diners can sometimesfeel as if the eating part of the evening ranks second place to the musical part, but not at The Spitz. With a ringside seat on the lively scene that is Spitalfields Market, The Spitz is a warm, friendly bistro, gallery and music venue in the City. It attracts an eclectic crowd, part City suits, part arty East Enders, part tourists and market-goers, who enjoy an equallyeclectic menu. Some love the tables outside, while others opt for the candlelit indoors. The live jazz every Friday night brings a buzz to a lively atmosphere while chilled out live beats play every Saturday night. The Spitz has also introduced live music on Monday's and Tuesday's. On classical Monday you will be treated to heavenly sounds from the likes of a harpist, and on Tuesdays a live Brazilian trio or live jazz trio delights diners. And what's better, it's all for free.
Food wise, the breads are terrific. Try starter of beetroot tatin with mascarpone and goat's cheese ice cream, or crispy duck with warm salad of figs, potatoes and baby spinach, and main courses of spring lam on braisedfennel with baby veg, or stir-fried salmon with Asian greens, egg noodles, and soya butter sauce. There are very good veggie dishes. Wines and beers include organic options.

Is it a restaurant with a gallery and music venue, or is it a great place for music with an excellent restaurant and gallery attached? Yes to both questions. The Spitz, with its ringside location on the lively scene that is Spitalfields Market, is a warm, friendly bistro, gallery and music venue right in the City, that has hosted record launches, celebrations and pr events of all types as well as private parties. Live music is very much on offer here, as are DJ's. Choose from the Bistro restaurant, the music venue, or the gallery space, depending on the ambience you wish to create. Give them enough warning and The Spitz will accommodate your diners with a themed menu. What's cooking? Eclectic British-ish international cuisine. Try starter of beetroot tatin with mascarpone and goat's cheese ice cream, or crispy duck with warm salad of figs, potatoes and baby spinach, and main courses of spring lam on braised fennel with baby veg, or stir-fried salmon with Asian greens, egg noodles, and soya butter sauce. There are very good veggie dishes and excellent breads. Wines and beers include organic options.
